The Centre of Excellence of Multifunctional Architectured Materials (CEMAM) is devoted to the design, creation, and the fundamental understanding of new multifunctional materials and improved performances that will underlie the technologies of the future in a more sustainable world.
CEMAM has a special mission: to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary research and education in the science and engineering of materials that will address the needs of the society of tomorrow. New materials combined with innovative manufacturing techniques will accelerate the transition of promising systems that deliver increased sustainability, energy efficiency , reduced footprint in nature and ultimately, strategic advantage for Europe.
CEMAM is the brainchild of SIMAP, LEPMI, and LMGP, three academic laboratories specializing in Materials Science and Process Engineering (MSE), one team in biomedical engineering (from TIMC-IMAG lab), one team in physical biology from LIPHY, and one team in environmentally conscious design (from G-SCOP lab).
Based in Grenoble, it represents 150 permanent researchers in materials science, chemistry, mechanics, and biology. CEMAM also promotes close collaborations with industry and other prestigious academic partners.
